Town Halls

U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy of Winter Park, Fla., announced she will be hosting two Telephone Town Halls next week to discuss the federal government’s response to the health and economic crisis posed by coronavirus and to listen to her constituents. Murphy will use these remote events as an opportunity to safely hear Central Floridians’ views about additional steps Congress can take in response to this pandemic. Since the beginning of this crisis, Murphy has held a series of virtual outreach events including telelistening sessions for health care workers and educators, telephone and virtual town halls in English and Spanish, virtual seminars, and conference calls for local elected leaders, small businesses, and nonprofits, as well as calls with members of her youth, labor, and faith leaders advisory boards to listen to how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting their communities.

“Nearly six months since this crisis began, my office continues to receive hundreds of calls from Central Floridians who are still struggling to find COVID testing sites, apply for support for their small business, or receive unemployment benefits. I’m hosting these events to hear directly from them—the people I represent—about the challenges they face and share the many ways my office can help them,” said Murphy. “While congressional leaders and the Administration have fallen short of providing the strong, aggressive response needed to combat this pandemic, I’m working to build support for a recovery that is focused on saving lives and leaving no one behind. I encourage every resident of Florida’s Seventh Congressional District to join us and share how we can work together to help our country get through this difficult time.”
