On Wednesday, May 5 at 6 p.m., U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy of Winter Park, Fla., will host a Hurricane Preparedness Webinar with emergency management officials to prepare Floridians for the 2021 hurricane season. Murphy will be joined by Alan Harris with Seminole County Emergency Management, Chief Lauraleigh Avery with Orange County’s Office of Emergency Management, and Scott Spratt with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
“As hurricane season continues to worsen every year due to the effects of climate change, I want to ensure that Central Floridians have access to every resource available in order to adequately protect their homes, businesses, and families,” said Murphy. “I am hosting this webinar to connect residents in our community with public health and emergency officials so they can get their questions answered and learn helpful information about hurricane safety.”
The event is open to all residents of Florida’s Seventh Congressional District, which includes all of Seminole County and part of Orange County. They may join by registering at murphy.house.gov/hurricaneseason. The webinar will also be broadcast on Congresswoman Murphy’s Facebook page.
