Murphy Announces 2018 Congressional Art CompetitionCompetition offers high school students an opportunity to showcase their artwork in the U.S. Capitol.
U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy of Winter Park, Fla., is inviting high school students from her district to participate in the 2018 Congressional Art Competition. The competition gives students an opportunity to showcase their creativity and artistic talent. The deadline to submit artwork to Murphy’s office is April 30, 2018. All submissions will be exhibited at an event in central Florida, and the winning artist will receive a trip to Washington D.C. to be honored at a special ceremony. Their artwork will then be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for an entire year.
“Central Florida is home to many gifted and creative students, and I hope they will submit works of art to my office as part of the Congressional Art Competition,” said Murphy. “This contest gives students the chance to demonstrate their talents in our central Florida community and, for the winning student, in the U.S. Capitol.” Artwork can be entered into the competition until April 30, 2018, at which point it will be placed on display at an exhibition organized by Murphy’s office on May 1, 2018. The winner will be selected by a panel of local art teachers and will be personally recognized by Murphy for his or her achievement. The winner’s artwork will then be displayed in the U.S. Capitol and featured on the official Congressional Art Competition website. To enter the competition, eligible students must submit their artwork, along with a release form, to Murphy’s office by the April 30, 2018 deadline.
