The April 30 deadline to enter the 2018 Congressional Art Competition, hosted by U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy, is now just one week away. Murphy encouraged high school students from her central Florida district to submit their artwork to one of her local offices in Orlando or Sanford. The Congressional Art Competition gives students an opportunity to showcase their creativity and artistic talent. Murphy’s office will exhibit all submissions at a May 1 event in central Florida, where a panel of local art teachers will select the winner. The Congressional Institute, which sponsors the competition, will fly the winning artist to Washington D.C. to be honored at a special ceremony. Their artwork will then be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for an entire year and featured on the official Congressional Art Competition website.

“Central Florida is home to many gifted and creative students, and I hope they will submit works of art to my office as part of the Congressional Art Competition,” said Murphy. “This contest gives students the chance to demonstrate their talents in our central Florida community and, for the winning student, in the U.S. Capitol.”

To enter the competition, eligible students must submit their artwork, along with a release form, to Murphy’s office by the April 30, 2018 deadline.
