U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy of Winter Park, Fla., will host a series of telephone town halls this month to provide a legislative update to constituents and to answer any questions they may have on issues important to them and their families.  Each telephone town hall will last approximately one hour and offer residents of Florida’s Seventh Congressional District a simple and convenient way to connect directly with their representative in the U.S. House.  The first of these live events is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m.

“Listening to the people I represent is a fundamental part of my job, and I take it very seriously,” said Murphy.  “After hosting numerous listening sessions, Coffee with Your Congresswoman events, town halls, roundtables, and other events throughout central Florida, many constituents – especially seniors and families with young children – said they had trouble leaving their homes to visit with me.  These telephone town halls offer a convenient way for families to participate in the political process and share their concerns with me from the comfort of their own homes.”

Some residents in Florida’s Seventh Congressional District may receive an automated telephone call from Murphy’s office that will give them the option to be automatically connected into the telephone town hall.  In addition, Seventh District residents will have the opportunity to join the town halls by calling the following toll-free number during the events: 866-383-2729.  Anyone on the call may listen to the live event and specific instructions will be provided for callers who wish to ask Murphy a question.

Below is Murphy’s complete telephone town hall schedule for May 2018:

  • Wednesday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Monday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Murphy said her telephone town halls are part of her ongoing work to listen to her constituents.  Murphy began her term with a series of listening sessions and has since held two series of her annual “Coffee with Your Congresswoman” events, as well as roundtable discussions and town halls, and has participated in more than 200 events around her district.  Most recently, Murphy hosted Congressman Richard Neal, the Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee, in Winter Park, Fla. for a town hall on retirement security and other issues important to central Florida seniors.  In addition to the telephone town halls, Murphy plans to hold social media town halls in the coming months. More details will be announced at a later date through her weekly e-newsletter, to which constituents may subscribe at
