Murphy Applauds Passage of FY26 National Defense Authorization Act
Washington, D.C. — Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., applauds the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026.
"I am pleased to support this year's National Defense Authorization Act," said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. "Through enhancing peace through strength, improving servicemembers’ quality of life, and strengthening American deterrence, we can best protect our country, keep the world safe, and safeguard taxpayers' dollars. North Carolina is home to some of our nation's finest warfighters, including those serving at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Stations Cherry Point and New River, who will significantly benefit from the $244,689,000 allocated to our bases. It is my honor to fight for the necessary resources for our military and their families, who sacrifice so much for our freedom."
NC-03 Victories | By the Numbers:
- $90 million for an operations facility at Camp Lejeune.
- $51.4 million for SOF Combat Service Support/Motor Transport Expansion at Camp Lejeune.
- $48.2 million for Amphibious Combat Vehicle Shelters at Camp Lejeune.
- $40 million for the F-35 Aircraft Sustainment Center at FRC East, ensuring our Marine F-35s will be maintained for the next 50 years.
- $15 million for the MCAS Cherry Point Flightline Utilities needed for additional F-35 squadrons.

Background:
This legislation authorizes $900.6 billion for national defense discretionary programs.
Codifies all or parts of 15 executive orders and 30 legislative proposals from the Trump Administration to end left-wing ideology, wokeism, and DEI in the military.
- Supports our Warfighters:
- Fully supports F-47 fighter aircraft, submarines, warships, and autonomous systems.
- Prohibits the retirement of Seymour Johnson F-15Es.
- Ensures proper oversight of critical programs, including the F-35, in meeting performance requirements.
- Fundamentally reforms DoW’s civilian workforce hiring and management practices.
- Requires all military promotions, accessions, and command decisions to be based on individual merit and demonstrated performance, rather than race, ethnicity, or sex.
- Fundamentally reforms the defense acquisition system and speeds the delivery of innovative war technologies to the warfighter.
- Secures America’s borders:
- Fully funds the deployment of National Guard and active-duty troops in support of Border Patrol activities at the southwest border.
- Fully funds the establishment and enforcement of National Defense Areas along the southwest border.
- Authorizes over $1 billion to fight drug trafficking, including $398 million for DoW support of Counter Narcotics operations and $216 million for National Guard Counter Drug programs, $100 million over the budget request.
- Cuts Waste and Bloat:
- $40.5 million from eliminating DEI activities.
- $1.6 billion in cuts to climate change-related spending.
- $1.2 billion from retiring obsolete aircraft and ships.
- $6.8 billion from reductions in unnecessary Pentagon bureaucracy.
- $5.5 billion in cuts to consulting and service contracts.
- $3.7 billion in cuts to inefficient defense programs.
- $1 billion in climate change-related programs at DoW.
