Dare County Receives $1.8M Grant for Home Elevation Project
Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, August 17th, the United States Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that Dare County will be receiving a $1,860,961 grant to fund the elevation of 13 residential structures in Dare County.
Congressman Greg Murphy (NC-03) issued the following statement in response:
"I am glad that Dare County is receiving this grant to ensure our residential structures exceed the Base Flood Elevation standards per local safety standards," said Murphy. "Flood Elevation projects are critical to prevent serious damage and flooding in the event of adverse weather conditions. I am committed to working with FEMA to enhance our disaster preparedness in North Carolina, and I hope this FEMA grant will increase Dare County resident confidence in our ability to confront weather challenges moving forward."
