June 11, 2020

Greenville, N.C. – On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, Hyde County public schools were granted $1.2 million by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These funds will reimburse the Hyde County public school system for damages and expenses incurred by Hurricane Dorian. The State of North Carolina will also provide $409,000 for the same purpose.

Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released the following statement in response.

"Hurricane Dorian was one of the most destructive storms of 2019, and unfortunately the public schools of Hyde County were not spared by this disaster. I am delighted to hear FEMA has decided to assist eastern North Carolinians in Hyde County with their generous contribution of $1.2 million. We are thankful for their help to ensure our school systems can once again provide the best facilities and resources to the teachers and children of Hyde County," said Murphy.
