Murphy on 40th Anniversary of Beirut Bombing

October 24, 2023

Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. attended the annual observance of the anniversary of the Beirut bombing which occurred 40 years ago on October 23rd, 1983.

"We will never forget the cowardly and horrific attack on our barracks in Beirut. That heinous attack took the lives of 241 service members in the blast, most of whom deployed from Camp Lejeune," said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. "I pray for continued healing for the families of those we lost on that devastating day. They will never be forgotten."

"I'm grateful to have participated in the observance at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville yesterday, alongside many veterans and family members, including my friend Rep. Greg Pence (IN-06). The event was somber and moving. I remain deeply committed to looking after those who have sacrificed so much for our nation."
