Murphy Announces Winners of 2024 Third District Congressional Art Competition

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) is announcing the winners of the 2024 Third District of North Carolina Congressional Art Competition. The Congressional Art Competition is an annual, nationwide event for high school students to showcase their artistic abilities. Each congressional district's winning piece of artwork is hung in the Cannon Tunnel to the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

This year’s theme for the competition is "Scenery of Eastern North Carolina." 

The results for the Third District were as follows:

1st Place
Miles Hulka, Arendell Parrott Academy

2nd Place
Henry Quinn, Quinn Academy

3rd Place
Aeryn Hood, Croatan High School

Honorable Mention
Sicily Thurman, Swansboro High School

Murphy released the following statement:

"Congratulations to Miles, Henry, Aeryn, Sicily, and the rest of this year's participants for your incredible work to illustrate the immense beauty of Eastern North Carolina,"said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. "I was incredibly impressed by all the students across the district who submitted their art. Thank you to our incredible panel of judges and the Craven Arts Council and Gallery in New Bern for making this possible. I’m also very grateful for Transportation Impact which sponsored the event."
