Murphy Applauds Trump Order to Declassify All Documents Pertaining to Trump-Russia and Hillary Clinton Email Investigations

October 7, 2020

Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, October 6, 2020, President Donald Trump authorized the declassification of all documents pertaining to the Russia collusion and Hillary Clinton email server investigations. Last week, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe declassified documents revealing former Central Intelligence Agency Director John Brennan formally briefed President Barrack Obama about the Hillary Clinton campaign's plan to tie the Trump campaign to Russia to distract the public from her private email server scandal.

Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released the following statement in response:

"As we have known for quite some time now, the Trump-Russia collusion narrative was a fraudulent conspiracy theory that was fueled by the infamous Steele Dossier. We have now come to find out that the real collusion story should be about the Clinton campaign and the Obama-Biden Administration," said Murphy.

"President Obama and Vice President Biden knew that the Clinton campaign was pushing the false Trump-Russian narrative to cover for her own email scandal – which, I might add, was a gross disregard for national security – and they just let it slide. There has been a lot of fearmongering by Democrats about how Donald Trump is a unique threat to democracy. To the contrary, the Obama-Biden Administration's weaponization of the intelligence community is a scourge on America's proud tradition of free and fair elections," continued Murphy.

"The sad part is Hillary Clinton's plan partially worked. She may have lost the election, but her Trump-Russia conspiracy theories were recklessly peddled by the mainstream media and Democrats even after Congress conducted multiple hearings that failed to reveal any successful narrative. It is my hope that as the intelligence community continues to declassify these documents, we get to the bottom of how deep this corruption ran in the Obama-Biden Administration," concluded Murphy.
