Murphy Mourns the Loss of Craven County Commissioner Johnnie Sampson, Jr.

New Bern, N.C. – On Thursday, November 5, 2020, Craven County Commissioner Johnnie Sampson, Jr. passed away after complications with COVID-19. Sampson had served Craven County since 1996.
Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released the following statement:
"I was deeply saddened to learn of Johnnie Sampson, Jr.'s passing. He will be long remembered for his nearly quarter century of faithful service to the people of Craven County. Commissioner Sampson was a devoted public servant and a prime example of how public servants are called to represent all their citizens no matter their race, gender or creed. He will be dearly missed," said Murphy.
