Murphy Mourns the Loss of Jonathan Robinson

May 29, 2020

Greenville, N.C. – Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released this statement upon hearing of the passing of former North Carolina Legislator and current Carteret County Commissioner Jonathan Robinson.

"I was shocked and saddened to receive the news of the passing of Jonathan Robinson," said Murphy.

"From his time serving in the State Legislature, to his over 2 decades of service on the Carteret County Board of Commissioners, he was known as an advocate for the people, in particular those from the Down East communities. When Jonathan talked about the needs of commercial fishermen, he did so from experience, having pulled nets himself for years.

"His passion for the people he served came through with every conversation. There was very little small talk. If you spent an hour with Jonathan, 59 minutes were discussions about the needs of people. He took his position seriously and they were his passion.

"My condolences go out to his family and friends, as well as all the people of Carteret County. They have lost a true public servant who dedicated his life to making their community a better place."
