Murphy Named Ranking Member of Higher Education and Workforce Investment Subcommittee

Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, February 8, 2021, House Committee on Education and Labor member Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) was named Ranking Member of the Higher Education and Workforce Investment Subcommittee. Murphy released the following statement:

"As a former member of the Davidson College Board of Trustees as well as being a former small business owner, it is an honor to be the Ranking Republican on the Higher Education and Workforce Investment Subcommittee," said Murphy. "I look forward to working with my colleagues, as well as institutions of higher education, to address the many pressing issue areas in this subcommittee's jurisdiction, such as the cost of tuition, campus free speech and student athlete protections. I thank my colleagues for giving me the opportunity to lead Republicans on this important panel."

House Committee on Education and Labor Ranking Member Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (NC-05) issued the following statement:

"Rep. Murphy's previous experience as an educator will serve him well as Ranking Member of the Higher Education and Workforce Investment Subcommittee," said Foxx. "His expertise and passion will help elevate the work of this subcommittee as we address the many pressing issues surrounding American higher education."
