Murphy Rejects Senate "Border Security" Deal
Washington, D.C. — Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. issued the following statement in opposition to the Lankford-Murphy-Sinema immigration reform deal:
"While I respect Senator Lankford's efforts to negotiate this reform package, after carefully reviewing its provisions, I cannot support the deal," said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D."I will not vote for a border package simply because it has been presented. President Biden has purposely neglected his constitutional obligation to protect our nation's borders. He has placed his own politics above national security. This bill still invites people to come to this country illegally. The effort to pass a watered-down "border security" package is nothing more than a last-ditch effort by Democrats to resurrect their plummeting poll numbers heading toward Election Day."
"Far-left outside groups have pushed the Democrat Party to abandon common sense immigration policies, which even Obama supported, in favor of open border chaos. While I support those who wish to emigrate to America in search of a better life and to contribute to our society, it is clear our lax policies are being abused and we are under siege. The world has seen what has happened to Europe as a result of unfettered immigration. To think that America will experience anything different is naive."
