Murphy Responds to President Biden’s State of the Union Address

March 2, 2022

Washington, D.C. – This morning,Rep. Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released the following statement in response to President Biden's first State of the Union Address which took place in the U.S. Capitol last night.

"My one hope for this State of the Union was that President Biden would be truthful with the American people and speak to their genuine concerns amid numerous domestic and global crises," said Rep. Murphy. "While I was encouraged to hear the President voice his strong support for our brave allies in Ukraine, Biden failed to meet the moment in addressing the biggest challenges we face at home."

"Disturbingly, Biden made no apologies for the disastrous and deadly fallout of Afghanistan, the crisis at our Southern Border, or the fentanyl drug epidemic which has claimed the lives of over 100,000 Americans. He neglected to take responsibility for the current 40-year record high inflation, or the sharp decrease in real wages and labor force participation. He also failed to speak about rising crime in liberal cities, the DOJ's investigation of concerned parents, the impact of lockdowns and mandates, and his dismal foreign policy. After 14 months in office, the state of the union is in crisis because of this Administration's failed agenda, and the American people are paying the price."
