March 16, 2022

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released a video response immediately following Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy's virtual address to Congress. You can watch his full remarks by clicking here(link is external).

Full transcript of remarks:

"Hey guys, good morning. This is Congressman Murphy. I just left the Congressional Auditorium. At that point in time, all members of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate met, and we had a Zoom call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine.

I will just say in a word, heartbreaking. Heartbreaking to see the destruction of a peace-loving country by an evil aggressor. President Zelenskyy is a man of courage, he is a man of fortitude, and he knows there is a bounty on his head. But we are all Ukrainians today. All Ukrainians, because we all care about peace. Despite the differences in our country, we are all Americans first, and that is the way Ukrainians are. They care so much for their country.

It's heartbreaking to see a peace loving nation being torn apart by an evil dictator. So we as Americans have to stand up, stand for peace, stand for liberty, and stand for freedom. This is all Ukraine wants, it does not want any more, it does not want any less. This was a very, very difficult time to listen to the words he said, and see the video of how his country is being destroyed. So today, ladies and gentlemen I ask that you please pray for the people of Ukraine, and understand that this government, our government, needs to do all we can to support peace and freedom. God bless."
