Murphy Secures $275,000 for the Beaufort County Emergency Radio Project
Washington, D.C. — Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. successfully secured $275,000 for the Beaufort County Emergency Radio Project for the Sheriff's Department for Fiscal Year 2025 in the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill.
"Ensuring the safety of our communities and school campuses demands that our first responders are equipped with the most current and effective resources," said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. "Improving communication interoperability in a timely manner is critical to mitigate significant communication gaps. By providing our fire departments and officers with VIPER network-approved radio systems, we can enhance their ability to communicate clearly with partnering agencies. These advanced radios will also enable local departments to coordinate seamlessly with state and federal agencies during major events such as hurricanes, active shooter situations, and hazardous material incidents. I have proudly championed this initiative to ensure that our rural communities have the same access to critical resources necessary for maintaining preparedness and safety."
