Murphy Statement on 3rd Anniversary of Attack on Abbey Gate

August 27, 2024

Greenville, NC — Today, Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. issued the following statement on the third anniversary of the attack on Abbey Gate that led to the death of 13 brave American service members:

"Today, we remember the 13 U.S. service members who were tragically killed at Abbey Gate outside Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan,"said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D."The disastrous withdrawal that led to the horrific consequences of that day will never be forgotten and those responsible for the lack of preparedness and execution of the mission must be held accountable. I pray for the Gold Star families who lost their loved ones and continue to feel the pain today. These courageous men and women, who made the ultimate sacrifice, were among America’s finest."

Visit to Arlington National Cemetery

In 2021, Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. visited the burial site of fallen Marine Corps Sergeant Nicole L. Gee, who deployed from Camp Lejeune, NC, upon her arrival to Arlington National Cemetery to honor her life.
