Murphy Statement on August 2022 Economic Report

Washington, D.C.– Rep. Greg Murphy, M.D. (R-NC) released the following statement in response to today's Consumer Price Index (CPI) report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics which showed that year-over-year inflation rose 8.3% in August 2022, surpassing expectations.

"This report confirms what every North Carolina family already knows: President Biden's incompetent economic agenda is hurting the American people," said Rep. Murphy. "While tone-deaf Democrats are senselessly celebrating their deceptively named 'Inflation Reduction Act', American families are suffering from the highest increase in grocery prices since 1979, overwhelming rent increases, and one in six American households is behind on their utility bills. No matter how President Biden tries to spin it, the reality of Joe Biden's economy means that everyone has to spend more to get less. North Carolinians cannot afford one-party liberal rule any longer."
