Murphy Statement on Senate Democrats' 14th Vote Against Government Funding

November 4, 2025

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., issued the following statement after Senate Democrats voted a 14th time against the clean, continuing resolution to fund the government:

"On day 35 of the Democrat-forced government shutdown, Senate Democrats voted against the clean, continuing resolution to fund our government at current levels for the 14th time," said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. "Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and his colleagues are afraid of their radical, Progressive Left. They have dug their heels in, rejecting every attempt by Republicans to reopen the government. It is past time to get on with the people’s business. I pity the fear they have of the Progressive Left that is threatening their grip on power. At this point, I’m not certain that any of them remember they were elected to serve ALL of their constituents.

"The Democrats are holding the federal government hostage, demanding a ransom of $1.5 trillion in new spending, including free healthcare for illegal aliens. All the while, millions of Americans' benefits are in limbo, over a million federal employees are without a timely paycheck, flights have been grounded, and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) authorization has lapsed during hurricane season. Democrats acknowledge these severe consequences, but rather than vote to reopen the government, they openly admit to using families’ suffering as leverage. We simply cannot stand for this nonsense, and I will continue to proudly support reopening the government."
