Murphy Tours FRC East in Havelock
Havelock, N.C. – Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) was in Havelock on Friday, July 17, 2020 touring Fleet Readiness Center East (FRC-East). While on the visit, Murphy discussed military construction projects funded by the Department of the Navy (DoN) at FRC-East.
"Today, I toured FRC-East, which is the most important maintenance facility in the country for Marine Corps aircraft. More than 4,000 civil servants and contractors, including 900 engineers, work there to ensure our Marines' aircraft are kept flight ready. The work they do on all types of Marine and Naval aircraft, including the F-35 and the V-22 Osprey, is remarkable. Every F-35B that the Marine Corps purchases comes to FRC-East for additional engineering modifications. The workforce at FRC-East does cutting-edge work to ensure future aircraft have the engineering modifications necessary to improve flight performance," said Murphy.
"FRC-East, combined with Cherry Point, serves as an over a $2.5 Billion economic engine for the people of eastern North Carolina. I am committed to ensuring the necessary military construction projects needed to keep FRC-East operational are funded by Congress. The performance of the workers here has been and remains extraordinary. It is an honor to represent them."
