Murphy Votes to Fund the Government in the House
Washington, D.C. – Late on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 8337, the Continuing Appropriations Act. The bill funds the government through December 11, 2020. Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released the following statement after voting for the bill:
"In these times of chaos and turmoil, bipartisan agreements such as this are a refreshing change of pace. Although this is by no means a perfect piece of legislation, I believe the pros outweigh the cons. I do recognize that stopgap funding negatively impacts our military's training, readiness, equipment procurement, new research and development contracts, and personnel. While I regret that is the case with this bill, it will prevent an ugly government shutdown fight prior to November 3rd, which will be one of the most important elections of our lifetime," said Murphy.
