Murphy Votes for H.R. 1195

Washington, D.C. – On Friday, April 16, 2021, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 1195, the Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act. Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released the following statement after voting for the bill:
"Throughout my years as a physician, I have personally witnessed physical violence and verbal abuse against health care professionals," said Murphy. "My fellow colleagues in the emergency department and other medical facilities are routinely at risk for harm from belligerents. They need these protections included in this legislation passed today and I am happy to support them by voting in favor of this bill."
