Murphy Votes for Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House
Washington, D.C. – On Sunday, January 3, 2021, the U.S. House of Representatives elected Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) cast his vote for Congressman Kevin McCarthy (CA-23). Murphy released the following statement:
"Today, I proudly voted for my friend Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House," said Murphy. "He stands for representing all the different constituencies of the People's House. Nancy Pelosi, on other hand is so out of touch with the people themselves. During her reign she has done nothing but be hyper partisan and offered little bipartisanship for the betterment of the nation. She has constantly put her politics ahead of the American people. We haven't forgotten how she gleefully showed off her $13 per pint ice cream and $24,000 fridge to her friends in the mainstream media after blocking hundreds of billions of dollars in relief aid for small businesses. More recently, she thought it would be okay to get her hair done in San Francisco while everyone else couldn't.
"She has made it abundantly clear she thinks there are two sets of rules: one for elites like herself and another for everyone else. She has done everything in her power to create a one-party system. That might be the case in socialist countries, but it is not the case in the United States. My Republican colleagues and I will continually fight to hold her accountable during this Congress."
