February 5, 2021

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, February 4th, the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Rural Development Program announced that the Scuffleton Rural Fire Association, Inc. (SRFA) received a $234,900 Community Facility Disaster Grant. Funds from this grant will go towards the purchase of a new pumper fire truck. Part of the grant will also go toward refinancing existing debt.

Congressman Greg Murphy (NC-03) issued the following statement in response:

"Without volunteer firefighters, many rural communities in eastern North Carolina wouldn't have resources available for an emergency," said Murphy. "These funds will help the SRFA more effectively protect the towns and townships they serve. I want to thank the USDA and the Rural Development program for their continued support for rural communities in eastern North Carolina. My deepest gratitude also goes out to the men and women who selflessly volunteer their time and talent to protect their communities."
