As a physician with 35 years of experience, a medical missionary, and a small business owner, I understand the challenges Americans, especially those in rural and underserved communities, face in affording and accessing high-quality healthcare. Congress must take bold action to deliver these necessities by being unafraid to confront the headwinds of the healthcare industry’s biggest lobbies and special interests.
As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Health Subcommittee, it is my honor to fight for you and confront the biggest abuses of our healthcare system. Throughout my career, I have had patients, as well as physician colleagues, come to me in tears from the frustration they face in receiving and delivering necessary care. The greedy practices that put profits over patients have been a driving force that have caused healthcare costs to soar and deny care to those in need. I will never waver in my commitment to fighting to put patients and their physicians before profits.
