Washington, D.C.– Today, Rep. Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released the following statement after voting NO on H.R. 1808 – the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022. If signed into law, H.R. 1808 would institute a so-called semiautomatic ‘assault weapons' ban and outlaw ‘common use' magazines capable of accepting more than 15 cartridges.

Richard Hudson (NC-08) led 19 of their Republican colleagues in a letter to President Biden urging him to repeal the federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate for U.S. servicemembers. The members sent the letter in response to Dr. Anthony Fauci's recent comments in which he concluded that vaccines do not protect "overly well" against infection.

Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy all require a nomination from a member of Congress. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a nomination.

Washington, D.C.– The United States Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that Emerald Isle will receive $2,616,156 in federal funding to support recovery efforts from Hurricane Florence. This grant will assist Emerald Isle in purchasing emergency equipment and vehicles to aid future hurricane preparedness and response.
